Do I have to pay anything to work with you?

No. Our fee is paid entirely by the hiring firm. You never pay anything - not for our time, not for the placement, not for any of the support along the way.

Do I have to be actively looking to reach out?

Not at all. A lot of the attorneys we work with are just curious about what's out there. We're happy to share what the market looks like for someone at your level, and we don't push. If the timing isn't right, it isn't right.

Will my current firm find out I'm looking?

Accepted Answer

No. Confidentiality is something we take seriously. We don't submit your materials anywhere without your explicit approval, and we never reach out to your current firm. You control the entire process.

What does working with you actually look like?

It starts with a call where we learn about you - your background, what you like about your current role, what you'd want to change, and where you want to go. From there we put together a curated list of firms we think are genuinely good fits. We handle all the back-end communication with recruiting contacts so you can stay focused on your work.

I'm really early in my career. Is it too early to talk to a recruiter?

Not necessarily. Some firms actively hire junior laterals, particularly at the 2nd and 3rd year level. It depends heavily on your practice area, law school, and current firm. Reach out and we'll give you an honest read.

We primarily place in New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Houston, San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston, but we have relationships at firms across all major markets.

We work across all major BigLaw practice areas: litigation, corporate, M&A, white collar, banking and finance, IP, regulatory, and more. If you're a BigLaw associate, there's a good chance we can help.

How long does a lateral move typically take?

It varies. Some placements close in 4-6 weeks once submissions go out. Others take several months, especially if you're being selective about where you apply. We'll give you realistic expectations based on your specific situation.

What if I get a counter-offer from my current firm?

It happens. We'll walk you through how to think about it honestly, including the times when it actually makes sense to stay. Our job is to help you make the right decision, not just close a deal.
